3 Things about me

  1. I have seven siblings (one brother and one sister and then five step-sisters).
  2. I am currently doing my PhD in Sociology.
  3. I learned reading playing Secret Of Mana on the SNES with my dad.

My answers to the questions:

What is your goal for 2018?

That is a bit difficult – I don’t tend to have one specific goal for a year. I had a few reading related resolutions which I am mostly doing ok on (I will do a mid-year check-up on those in a month’s time). I also wanted to finish my interviews for my PhD, which I have done as of last month.

If you could have coffee with one book character, who would it be?

That has to be Kassandra. She sounds like the most interesting person ever. I don’t even care whose interpretation. (Also, if anybody has recommendations for retellings of Kassandra’s story, I am always interested in those.)

Where are you planning to travel to next?

I am going to London at the beginning of July. My partner has never been (weird, right?) and we have tickets for Hamilton (yes!). I am trying to go to the UK every second year or so, because I love it there.

What is your favourite thing about yourself?

I like to think that I am a good listener who is interested in what other people have to say.

What would be one piece of advice you would want to give your younger self?

General advice: stop being mean to impress mean people who you’ll (thankfully) not be friends with a few years time.

One specific thing: Do not take the post-grad place at University of Birmingham – because your dream uni (London School of Economics) will accept you the moment you have paid your tuition fees and three months rent making it impossible to back out of a course that will turn out to be not so great.

  1. Ahh that trip you have coming up to London sounds amazing!! And what you shared about getting into the University of London too late pained my heart, wow 😦 But thank you for tagging me!!

  2. Thanks for the tag! Seven siblings sounds chaotic, have you ever lived with them all at the same time? I’m sure it makes holidays pretty cozy, if you all do something together for them. 🙂

    1. We have never lived all together. And we are never more than six of us at the same time (I do spend a lot more time with my father’s wife’s three children than my mother’s partner’s children) but even then it is chaotic to no end.

  3. I cannot believe you have SEVEN SIBLINGS. I think you’ve mentioned a sister before, or maybe you mentioned different sisters at different times, but I guess I assumed you had one sister. I’m an only child so I cannot comprehend having one sibling, let alone seven.

Thank you for tagging me, I love your questions. And I’m happy you’re going back to London soon, yay! I haven’t been back in a few years and I miss it, it is a wonderful city.

    1. I usually talk about my older sister (the one I am actually related to) and my brother more than about the others. But at least my father’s wife’s children feel very much like siblings as well.

I cannot wait to read your answers 🙂
